Naga Ryu Student Wins Wrestling Title

Fellow students know him as Ricky Robertson, but on Saturday nights this multi-talented martial artist becomes the notorious Jackal in the Professional Wrestling ring at the ACW arena. On Saturday, August 2nd, Ricky and his partner Section 8 defeated the reigning Tag-Team Champions Extreme Heat and Scotty Fantastic to win the coveted Alabama Championship Wrestling title. In this entertainment sport in which image and appearance is everything, Ricky has set himself apart from the other wrestling talent by using martial arts skills learned in the Naga Ryu dojo. One of his signature moves is a wicked round kick to his opponent's head. Excellent form and control allows Ricky to wow the crowd with this technique without sending the receiving wrestler to the hospital. Great work, Ricky- keep it up!

Boyd Receives Highest White Belt Honor

July 22, 2003: Special congratulations go out to Marcus Boyd for his promotion to White Belt 9th Kyu. The 9th Kyu level of the white belt rank is, in the Naga Ryu school, awarded (never tested for) to the white belt who demonstrates good attendance and exceptional skill and commitment. At just 10 years of age, Marcus has a natural ability to quickly learn even the most demanding techniques and now has the distinct honor of being the first white belt ever to be awarded the 9th Kyu rank in the Naga Ryu school.

New Promotion Congratulations...

...Goes out to Ben Williamson. Good attendance and hard work earned Mr. Williamson special testing during the July 12th class. He was awarded the rank of Yellow Belt 7th Kyu.

Throw out that ratty Ninja Turtles lunchbox you've been carrying around since the 80's. The awesome Naga Ryu lunchbox (right) is finely crafted with an all steel body for years of heavy duty use.

Berman Museum Tour

Thanks go out to the students who attended the Berman Museum tour on Thursday the 3rd. Since our normal class time was interrupted due to the gymnasium being closed for the holiday, we took the opportunity to experience an educational look at the history of warfare throughout the ages. The Berman museum houses some of the world's most priceless artifacts from all over the world including medieval weapons, armor, old west firearms, uniforms and costumes and lots more. Of particular interest were the WWII era samurai swords. I urge everyone who didn't take advantage of this free tour to visit this excellent museum at first opportunity.
