About our Weapons:

The Bokken has for hundreds of years been the traditional training tool for the Samurai. It's history, though, goes much deeper. During the Meijai Reformation during the 1800's, the Japanese government outlawed the samurai class and the famous samurai sword. Many samurai, reluctant to abandon their beloved sword altogether, began carrying the bokken. In trained hands, these wooden swords were brutally effective weapons. In what is likely his most famous duel, the great sword master Musashi Miyamoto slew a rival samurai with a bokken he crafted from a boat oar. It is for this reason student and master alike must respect the bokken as he or she would the live blade and observe all protocol as afforded any weapon. Our bokken are chosen not only for affordability, but for durability under heavy training.
